Eggs

We've been looking after some friends animals, quails and chickens, for a few days. And the benefits of looking after friends animals is you get to keep what they produce. In this case, various size and coloured eggs.
If you've never seen a quail egg, they're a lot smaller than a chicken egg, about 1/4 to 1/5 in size. The shell is also a lot more colourful, and like chicken eggs each quail seems to produce it's own colour.

New MySpace

I decided to try out the new MySpace.
Quite surprising really, a lot better than the old randomness that it used to be. While it still is aimed towards onstage performers and venues they've thought about others such as brands, writers, artists and of course fans.
It seems to be a bit of a mesh of the original MySpace, Twitter, Facebook and Google+. Something I think Google+ were trying to do, but MySpace has done it better (in my opinion).
It's still in beta mode, open to a few people each day via invitation, so some features don't seem to be working very well or at all (I haven't been able to access events yet to create one). But the areas that are quite good.

If you want to check it out, go to https://new.myspace.com and you can put your email address in for an invitation (mine took 2 days to turn up).
And feel free to connect with me :) https://new.myspace.com/tigratho I'll be using it as another area to show off my drawings and photography.

Melting

Last time I remember it being this hot for days was when the Black Saturday bush fires happened. I know the news has been mentioning that constantly for the last 2 months ('it will be the worst summer since Black Saturday'), but we've had a fairly cool summer the last few years. We've been quite lucky.
This is a photo dad took that day. This cute little guy was looking for a bit of relief during the hot weather.

We'd left a fishtank out the front for a few months which had filled with rainwater. It was obviously a nice place to sit for a few minutes before waddling off into the bush.

Sleepy

Two images for todays 'sleepy' inspiration, a photo and a really quick sketch I wanted to try out :)

I love the later hours of the day, when people are winding down for the evening.

Our cat, always sleeping, this is a really quick sketch I drew from a photo I took a few months ago.

January : Brand New

For probably the last 6 months I've been really frustrated. I've been wanting to get back into drawing, painting, some sort of art or something creative and actually sit down and have time to enjoy it. Something that doesn't have a deadline, that I can relax while doing, not working to a clients brief and that I can put on my wall and feel happy once I'm done.

I used to draw a lot, but in the last 10 years I've only taken one weekend out to learn how to airbrush. I've done quite a bit of photography, which I enjoy, but at the moment I just want to draw!

So yesterday I joined the Facebook group amonthof that comes up with a theme a month. This month they've created a list of words, one per day, that you can use for inspiration while being creative. There are no set rules, you don't have to participate each day if you can't/don't want to. It can be anything creative, writing, drawing, photos, craft etc. So really the only pressure is what you put on yourself (and I've found sometimes that's the hardest).

I'm going to try and do at least half of them this month. Even though I'm technically a day late (in Australia) for the 1st one I'm giving it a go anyway: Brand New

The start of the year, I don't feel any different or suddenly inspired that this year will be the best yet, but I'm giving a brand new go to doing what I enjoy. I'm aiming to blog for fun here a bit more, a lot of it will be creative, I'm going to start a drawing project I've had in my head for more than a year, and (as I work for myself) I will take some time off client work each week to catch up with bookwork/paperwork and working on my own projects.
